I used a retail version of Windows 2008 R2 CD and installed OS on an HP Proliant Server. Later on, when I checked in Windows device manager, I find many unknown devices with yellow marks listed. To troubleshoot, I checked Hardware Ids of each device and was successful in finding the right driver (Took some time). This incident gave me an idea to write a post.
The Hardware ID of the unknown device is provided below:
The above said Device ID is of ATI ES1000 graphics card. ATI ES1000 is shipped with different models of HP Proliant servers. ATI ES1000 includes 16 MB/ 32 MB of Video Memory. In Windows 2003, you might find only 8 MB is available, it is because of the OS limitation. ATI ES1000 can support 32 bit/16 bit colors and maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024 (only in 16 bit).
Driver for ATI ES1000 is available for below said OS. Click on the links to find the right driver.
If above said drivers are NOT helping, then you need to install Proliant Support Pack of your server.
Proliant Support Pack (PSP) of your server contains all the drivers of your server. PSP Version 8.50 and 8.6 contains drivers of ATI ES1000 Video Controller, ATI RAGE XL Video Controller and Matrox G200eH Video Controller Driver.
