Windows 7, Vista, XP Driver for device ID ACPI\HPQ0006, HPQ0007

On any HP Notebook, once you reinstall any of the Windows OS (Especially when you install a retail version of Windows), you may come across with issues related to device drivers. I am sharing a common driver issue that you may face on any HP Notebook. The solution provided below will work for Windows 7/Vista/Windows XP.

Quick Launch Button

The easiest way to find which device is missing driver is by going to Windows Device Manager and then looking for the Device ID/Hardware ID of Unknown device listed with a yellow/red mark. If you find the device ID/Hardware ID as:

  • ACPI\HPQ0006
  • ACPI\HPQ0006\2&DABA3FF&0
  • ACPI\HPQ0006\2&DABA3FF&1
  • *HPQ0006

OR

  • ACPI\HPQ0007
  • ACPI\HPQ0007\4&2FFE84EA&0
  • ACPI\HPQ0007\2&DABA3FF&0

Then you can confirm that the missing drivers are for HP Quick Launch buttons.

Solution:

Device ID HPQ0006 and HPQ0007 is for HP Quick Launch buttons. HP released Quick Launch button drivers for Windows 7, Vista and Windows XP. I checked the HP.com web site and under download section I find that Quick Launch button drivers are available for download.

Click here to Download the Quick Launch button driver which is compatible with Windows XP,Vista and Windows 7.

I find that HP released latest version of Quick Launch button driver here, please download it if you wish to have the very latest version of HP Quick Launch button driver installed on your HP Notebook.

The driver is 23 MB, to handle one button. Is there any better example of HP bloat?

    Hi,

I am trying to register one of my software, in order to complete the registration process I need to submit Hardware ID. But unfortunately I am not able to make out that the Hardware ID of which component is required to be entered. I tried for several components but always it prompted me for invalid Hardware key.
