Unknown Device Driver for Intel Smart Connect (ACPI INT33A0)

     

Installing Windows on your Notebook or Desktop is always easy but finding a missing device driver may no be very straight forward. We could easily find driver related issues by checking Windows Device Manager. If any driver is not installed properly, then you will find an “Unknown Device” in Device Manager. Have a look on this screenshot?

Now you need to find which is this “Unknown Device”. The best way to find a details about an “Unknown Device” is by findings its Hardware IDs. To find the Hardware Ids, double click on “Unknown Device”, then click on the “Details” tab. Once you are at the “Details” tab, you will find a drop-down menu over there. Select “Hardware IDs” or “Device Instance Path” from the list. You will see something similar to this (refer screenshot).

Okay, here I selected “Device Instance Path” from the list and I find some information about this Unknown device. The String what you see in this window is very important and will surely helps us to find the right driver for the device. Here the Device Ids are:

ACPI\VEN_INT&DEV_33A0
ACPI\INT33A0\0
ACPI\INT33A0
*INT33A0

The above said Hardware IDs belongs to Intel Smart Connect Technology Driver (ISCT ACPI VIRTUAL DEVICE (ACPI\INT33A0)). This driver is available from Intel and will work on both Windows 7, Windows 8 and 8.1 (Microsoft Windows 8  & 8.1  32-bit, 64-bit and Microsoft Windows 7 32-bit, 64-bit). Once you download the Intel Smart Connect Technology Driver on your Notebook or Desktop, please install it on your computer. Once you installed the Intel Smart Connect Technology Driver, please restart the Notebook for the changes to take affect.

Sometime,  when you install the Intel Smart Connect Technology Driver on your Notebook, you may receive an error message stating “Platform Check Failed:  Intel Smart Connect Technology Device not found in BIOS, or it is not enabled”.

This error happens because you have not enabled Intel Smart Connect Technology device in Notebook or Desktop BIOS. Please refer the manufacturer user documentation to find a way to enable this device in BIOS. Usually the settings is available under Advanced Menu of your BIOS.

Intel Smart Connect Technology Driver is common for Dell, HP, Lenovo, Toshiba, Asus, MSI, ASRock and for most of other manufactures. So always try the Intel driver provided above on your machine before you start crying!

I want driver from my Notebook Manufacturer!

I know you! you are a kind of person who will only install the driver provided by your Notebook manufacturer, right? then I can try to assist you here. Let me remind you that this is not required because Intel itself has given you the driver and it should work on your Notebook.

Lenovo:

If you are using Lenovo Notebook and above said Intel driver link did not fix the issue, then you could try this Lenovo driver link. This driver will work on Microsoft Windows 8  & 8.1  32-bit, 64-bit and Microsoft Windows 7 32-bit, 64-bit

Dell:

If you are using Dell Notebook and above said Intel driver link did not fix the issue, then you could try this Dell driver link. This driver will work on Microsoft Windows 8  & 8.1  32-bit, 64-bit and can be installed on Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit as well.

If you are using Toshiba Notebook, download the driver from here.

If you are using ASRock, then download the driver from here. In ASRock machines, the unknown device may be listed as “IKBMON_01” and “IMSMON_01” in device manager.

    If you are using HP Notebook and above said Intel driver download link did not fix the issue, then you could try this HP Intel Smart Connect Technology Driver at

    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58501-59000/sp58809.exe.

    This driver will work on Microsoft Windows 8, 8.1  32-bit, 64-bit and can tried installing on Microsoft Windows 7 32-bit, 64-bit as well.
