HP ProLiant MicroServer is an entry level Server which provides basic functionality of a Server. As per HP, ProLiant MicroServer gives you basic server performance but at a PC price. Today, we will see how to create a RAID Array using AMD Option ROM Utility. We have 2 HDDs installed on this server and we will try to create a RAID 1 Logical drive on our MicroServer.

HP ProLiant MicroServer is an entry level Server from HP. This server is shipped with Embedded SATA RAID controller. The RAID controller is from AMD. To use RAID, we need to enable Embedded SATA RAID in BIOS. If you do not enable RAID in BIOS, you will not be able to use the RAID Functionality of this controller. In this article we will discuss about transferring or copying of HP Firmware DVD, HP SmartStart CD and HP Easy Setup CD to a USB key/thumb drive. We have installed Windows 2008 on a HP DL160 G6 Server and found that one of the driver is missing in Windows device manger. Whenever you come across with driver issue (Or unknown device in Device manager), we need to find the Device IDs/Hardware IDs of the unknown device. So we have checked the Hardware Ids of this unknown device and we found that it has the ID: ACPI\HPQ000B

While installing OS using HP SmartStart CD on a brand new Server, you may receive an error message “no disk available for installing an Operating System”.
