IPMI Driver for HP Proliant or Blade Servers

Once you do the manual installation of Windows 2003 or 2008 on your HP Proliant or Blade server, you may find some unknown devices are shown in Windows Device manager. If the device Id of the unknown device is VEN_103C&DEV_3302, then this post is for you. Continue reading to find out how to solve this missing driver issue.

IPMI Driver

Solution:

If you come across with missing driver issue and if the device ID of the unknown device is VEN_103C&DEV_3302, then you can confirm that the driver is of HP Integrated Lights-Out (iLO). The Device ID could be any one of the following.

PCI\VEN_103C&DEV_3302
PCI\VEN_103C&DEV_3305
PCI\VEN_103C&DEV_3302&SUBSYS_3305103C&REV_00
PCI\VEN_103C&DEV_3302&SUBSYS_3305103C&REV_00\4&2C3BA146&0&26F0

To obtain the driver of this unknown device, go to the download page of the server and download the HP ProLiant Integrated Lights-Out Management driver of your server.

However, I will provide some basic driver links here. Please be informed that if you are using iLO 100 or iLO3, please go to your server driver download page as shown above and download the driver as I have provided only iLO2 driver here. sometimes, you may need to download both Management Interface Driver and Controller Driver to solve the issue

Click here to Download iLO 2 Management Interface Driver for Windows Server 2003/2008 32 bit
Click here to Download ILo2 Management Interface Driver for Windows Server 2003/2008 64 bit/R2
to Download iLO 2 Management Controller Driver for Windows Server 2008 32 bit
Click here to Download iLO 2 Management Controller Driver for Windows Server 2008 64 bit/R2

Note: If you are using Windows 2012 OS, then please try below provided drivers for your Server, it worked for me once!

Download file name: cp017930.exe from this link, if the link does not work, please leave a comment and I will try to fix it.

If above said file does not work, then download cp013803.exe from hp.com, do NOT install it. Instead, extract the driver files to a folder, then open Device manager and do manual driver install.. This worked for some people (see comments from user named Chad) :)

How to download Driver from HP.com

If you are unsure how to find the exact driver for your server from HP web site, you can follow below said steps and I hope you will be able to download the required drivers. :D

1. Go to www.hp.com
2. Select “Software and Driver Downloads.”
3. Enter the Server model (for example: DL360 G6).
4. Select the specific server model from the “Product Search Results” page (if this page appears!)
5. Select the appropriate operating system.
6. Select Driver – Lights-Out Management.
7. Download “HP ProLiant Integrated Lights-Out Management Interface Driver” and click “Download.”

If iLO driver of the server does not solve the issue, please go ahead and install Proliant Support Pack of your server. I have observed that in some servers installing above said drivers does not solve the issue. Installing PSP will install missing chipset and other drivers and will take care of this driver issue as well. :D

  3. Trubar says:

Yep can confirm that. Doesnt work on Windows server 2012. Interesting is, “HP ProLiant Integrated Lights-Out Management Interface Driver” is driver for HP iLO Management Channel Interface Driver but i am still left with IPMI Interface without driver.

And the problem is, i cant install HP Insight Mangement agents and HP Insight Management WBEM providers… meaning System management doesnt work… :S I cant seem to find any driver from HP, that would fix this problem… :S

    BTW: I got a HP ML330G6 with Windows 2012.

“The software will not be installed on this system because the required hardware is not present in the system or the software/firmware doesn’t apply to this system.”

The server is a basic HP ML350 G6.

        Thanks!

May I know which OS was installed on the server? This driver used to work.!!

          • Tim says:

I have the exact same issue. I have installed Windows 2012 server on a HP DL380 G5. Ilo Firmware is 2.12. I get the same error message as above when applying CP017930.exe.

Anyone know of a Windows 2012 server driver for Ilo 2?

            Tim

          • SiRu says:

How about manual installation of driver.. (Need to extract drivers and try the manual method0>

if it does not work, then I will have to check it manually again.

  6. David Smyth says:

I logged a support call with HP today to see what they had to say. The official line is that at this point, there is no support for Server 2012 on a Proliant ML-350 G6 (or indeed any server with iLO 2). iLO 3/4 is fully supported. There are plans to update the drivers to support Server 2012, however they were unable to provide a release date.

  7. Dirk says:

Worked for me, on a ML350 G6. Had to do the manual install, though. Still, I have disks and all that stuff finally monitored. Thanks for the help!
    Poor Performance, HP!

  8. Chad says:

By the way…the Driver cp013803 is located on the newest disc image at \hp\swpackages.

This driver has not failed for me yet and I have installed it on a couple of hundred units. 360/380 G5′s

    Download the disc at:

    http://h18013.www1.hp.com/products/servers/service_packs/en/index.html

    Choose v. 10.10
    Login or register (it’s free)
    download full .iso image (2.4GB)
Grab the driver and manually update.
use HPSUM to update everything else.
